8 x 120gb is more than 2 x 240gb and if your not using raid 0 then he will only have 240gb, use raid 5 with 8 120gb ssd's will be good for him
I should game.

Why would he raid 5 SSDs when he can raid 5 2tb green drives for the same price? Standard procedure for machines like this is to have a massive hard drive bank and to to load the project up to the SSD/RAM disk (never raid 0 as reliability is of the utmost importance) and re save the project to the drive bank when u finish work for the day... I build quite a lot of small time work stations, unless you simply have massive amounts of cash the needs to be spent, then more then 2 SSDs are a waste (and the second is for reliability)... And even if u do get massive numbers of SSDs, you need a RAID card and run them in raid 10 along with your HDD bank... Since the OP is doing high def movies, he will chew through space extremely quickly

im about to call frozen cpu and ask them about water cooling...... im still unsure about the case (i love the look of the cosmos and the style but im afraid it will be too heavy to move from school to school)i dont want a HUGE case and im not looking to do any case mods atm. i just need a case with enough room for a maybe 480 or 360 rad and all of the water cooling.

I'd suggest a Danger Den tower 26 or 29; if you want to show off the internals, an acrylic case would probably be best.

i just put my SWTX setup in a danger den double wide tower 21. I love it and it will show off well and has tons of space for water cooling.

now for the water cooling......... i have decided to cool the cpu and the 680s i will only use 2 to offset the price of the cooling
