So does Galaxy just put your Stock back on for RMA do not fall for crappy evga Marketing ploys.

Galaxy just says that to keep noobs from messing up Gpus.. they will cover your card in warranty if u put the stock heat sink back on and the reason the card failed is not from the user taking it off

For example i have shared this with the Galaxy North American Product manger.. i still got a warranty...

for less than $50 you can extend your evga warranty to a total of 10 years and i think that 680 from evga might even have the 10 year one

hold up! if you will be constant moving thsi build, DO NOT water cool with an open loop... in order to be absolutely safe, you should drain and re fill teh loop every time you move the case (more then rolling it to the other corner of the room... like moving houses or any car ride or major trip)... also, once watercooled, teh difference in inital case weight will be verry small because you will have 20+ lbs of water and blocks in it... lastly (and this is just personal opinion) any show case should have a side window, and i dont know of any cosmos ii with one

i think this is what im going to get and put a thick 480 in the top.
now for the water cooling......... i have decided to cool the cpu and the 680s i will only use 2 to offset the price of the cooling

Heads up with Mountain Mod casses... they take quite extreme amounts of work, effort, and modding to make them look decent... that said, they can be by far the best looking cases, but when they do the builder just uses them as a basic shell and redisgnes the entire interior... again i say, they take insane amounts fo work and modding to make look clean when there are other cases in teh same price range that are very easy to make look nice and require no modding what so ever... IMO mountain mod casses are only for very advanced modders and builders

on another note, i think that is a wise decision on the GPUs if you do watercool thumb.gif

ill post up my recomendations... just got home, so give me a bit (and just use a ref card and replace the heatsink imo... the blocks on EVGA cards are prity terrible)

same RAD... Frozen CPU just didnt mark it as "V2"... litteraly asked them this question myself about a week ago

i may have to agree on this option (if you do use EVGA)... schools sometimes end up keeping equiptemt for quite a long time (my school is still running on 1.8GHz single core Pentium 4 478 comps with 512 MBs of ram on XP sp3)... it depends on how often the school gets new equiptemnt, and what will happen to this computer at the end of teh year (since the OP mentioned taking it home at times)... if this will be a permanent school comp, i would ask the school for the extra $100-200 for extended warranties on all componants

EDIT: i still have my Voodoo 3 running in my home server......................

Look into a Revodrive 3x2. Incredibly fast. Use that applications and workspace. It is worth noting that the revodrive takes a while to initiate on startup, so if you want it to boot to desktop quickly, then you'll want a sata boot disk.

I think you are wasting your time with GeForce cards. Are you a gamer? It doesn't sound like it. You should get a Quadro; it will work MUCH better for professional tasks. Quadro is worth it's weight in gold if your applications support CUDA. Not many people on this forum have actually used a high end Quadro card and have no idea how fast they are. I have and it is amazing.

Watercooling is fun, I think you should go with a custom loop and only do the cpu. Quadro doesn't have watercooling support and doesnt need it to be honest. RAM and mobo cooling is purely for looks. Save the money and put it into the actual performance items. A single 240 or 360 rad and a single pump is sufficient. I don't know why everyone says have more than 1 pump. Mine has been going maintenance free for over 3 years now without a hitch.

My Recommendations:

3930k, Extreme11(if you like, a smaller board will work just as well if you choose to have a Revodrive and a Quadro)
Revodrive 3x2 for applications and work space, Sata SSD for OS, HDD array of your choice for storage
1 high end Quadro for graphics
cpu block, 360 radiator, 1 pump, tygon tubing

agreed... OP... i realy do think you should go witha Quadro card... hadn't though about a revo drive, but that is an amazing idea... as for the CPU and Mobo, i think the best option would be an SR-X (or asus equivalent, but only since your going for flashy) with 2 mid range E7 CPUs using hyper 212s and 64GB+ of decent server ram (or get G.skills for cheap good ram that looks nice)... that would realy be the way to go IMO

The computer will be at my house over the summer (i am a gamer) and it will stay with the computer club it will most likely be replaced in a few years but yeah my school doesnt have any nice computers they are dell single cores with no graphics cards they are ****..lol.. but the reason for no quadro is beacuse we have a computer with a quadro card and have tons of problems with it (what we are using now) and we really are not fans of quadro lol

that is fair enough on the quadro tongue.gif... as for my other recomendations, they still stand (but WC everything)... i will put together another build idea in the next couple hours for you, and post my list of favorite HTPX cases... also, let me know what you think of what else i said in my massive post (i like to ramble, so sry) tongue.gif
