Thanks for the tip. I am trying to be careful, there seems to be a lot difficulty with screws and radiators

that's strange because i have 2 240 alphacool rads and i got i set of 30mm screws and another set of 35mm screws... saying that though my rads aren't monstas rolleyes.gif

As you were saying, the accessory mount might help you out. I have my pump mounted on a short mount attached with the accessory mount horizontal.
But I just about had to have the pump up higher to get a good sight on my bulkhead fitting to the pedestal.
I was looking back at your fans. Like you, I can't believe Noctua still uses that funky brown color. I wouldn't say AP15's are pretty, but they are super quiet compared to most and can't believe I never tried them before my current build.

I decided to go the PWM route to eliminate (I hope) the need for a fan controller and simplify the design. Once I settled on PWM controlled fan, the NoctuaF12 popped up as the leading candidate. Had I gone the controller route, the AP15 would have been my choice.

I thought it was strange. There could be lots of causes, manufacturing variability, the fans, my paranoia about damaging the radiator... In any case, washers are cheap.

Do you plan to add another rad up front when the mounts are available?

REALLY !! Windows 8 ?!

I'll be watching YOU ! and this thread. I think you've tripped over a rare instance where the Noctua fan color goes well with the screws and sets off the black case nicely. Even the fan shrouds look differently colored, unless that's due to the camera/light. I think its mostly due to the fact that most pix of the Noctuas are as heatsink fans - interior shots - and that's always going to be a clash with most case interiors. Thanks for logging your SM8 build - subbed !

@ bern43 - start logging your build too ! Can't hurt to have MOAR SM8 build logs biggrin.gif

Probably, but time and apathy are a powerful enemy.

Yes, using Windows 8 is like eating broccoli, I won't like it, but it is probably good for me. With a new machine and my first build to need 64 bits, it just made sense.

I can't say that I like the Noctua color scheme, but it isn't as hideous as I feared. It might even look good in a beige case.

I'm glad that I'm doing this in stages, the water lines sure sag a lot more than I imagined they would. Lifting the pump and reservoir off the deck will help somewhat, but I'm still going to have sagging tubes unless I find a way to support them. Below are a couple of quick diagrams I did of some of my thoughts about the phase 3 and phase 4 builds:

In phase 3 there is a long span between the radiator block and the pump/reservoir that is going to need a support. Additionally, the line from the GPU to the pump needs some support, if only to hold up the drain line.

In phase 4, the addition of a second radiator block yields another line needing support.

The tube from the top radiator to the pump & reservoir can probably be supported by attaching some clamps along the side of the radiator. The other lines require a bit more thinking. One possibility would be to use segments of pex or copper for the longer spans. Since I haven't seen much in the way of pex or copper in builds I have to assume there is a drawback.

What is the wall thickness of your tubing? Maybe thicker thickness would help?

Good call. The tubing is pretty thin; 3/8"ID, 1/2"OD, so the wall thickness would be 1/16th inch. I considered getting 3/8"ID, 5/8"OD, but decided against it to gain some flexibility (that is certainly a double edges sword). Just raising the reservoir and some angle fittings will provide considerable relief, perhaps it will be enough. I have some time to think about the approach as I don't want to start the next stage until my calendar clears anyway.
