Sounds more like a I/O issue of some kind.

The relative improvements for each card are:

HD 7770: +5%
HD 7850: +4%
HD 7870: +10%
HD 7950: +7%
HD 7970: +7%
HD 7970 GHz: +7%
Personal opinion: thumb.gif pretty nice performance increase by just pure driver oh wow! thumb.gifthumbsupsmiley.png

I wonder if with this boost to the 7770 it would come close or similar to the performance of a 560 non TI. I wan't to replace that card from my HTPC since it runs a bit hot/loud. But I love the performance for the price.

Yep, using or own BradleyW's method of manual removal. I have never had issues that way. Also updated to include a nice bump in 3DMark11.

Do tell me where you got the magic bug free nVidia drivers, mine keep crashing. This HD7850 I'm on now? Not a single driver bug, sure it's missing some options but nothing I'm really missing, especially since this card eats my 470 for breakfast. (At 1200Mhz on the core, too)
Yeah, instead of it being roughly equal now the HD7970 is equal at stock and will pull ahead at OCed speeds, remember that the GTX 680 is likely at 1150Mhz+ whereas the HD7970 will still be at stock or 1050Mhz; and they clock roughly the same according to hwbot averages.
That's a very good point. People tend to forget that AMD cards are clocked a bit lower then their competitor. To do so and still come out on top is outstanding. The last time we saw something like that, I think, was back in the 2900xt vs 8800gtx days...

Just so guys know, I have to 6950 overclocked and unlocked and wanted to see if these drivers made a differance. To my suprise they made the cards run a lot better. Espeically with Amibeant Occulasion on in Heaven bench mark. I didn't tank any screeines, so I would just like to ask any others if they saw a incress. I saw a jump from 56-65 fps on all max but no Amibeant Occulasion, then I tested with A.O. and got 49 fps, was darn near amazed. Befor A.O. crushed my cards, now it seems they run great, The biggest improvment was when it pans around the dragon. Did anyone eles notice this or am I desulioned?thinking.gif

Well they 12.10 drivers were also released giving support for the previous gen cards, the 12.11 could have included optimizations from there. They weren't particularly looking to optimized the previous gens and focus on the 7k but optimizing drivers can benefit all if they're using fixes/changes in a build for more general use. If its for a specific games most of the time they focus on one particular series but free performance boost is always a good thing thumb.gif
