thank you to everyone who helped, one more question though I just installed it like I would another HDD and have been happy ever since but I read about people worrying so much about firmware? i assume the firmware is on the SSD its self?

Firmware: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware

Just update it if you have to. Intel Toolbox should tell you when there is a new firmware out.

Apparently you do not understand what firmware is.

Why do mobile phones, digital cameras, TV remotes, ipods, ipads, motherboards, routers, etc need firmware? It is the permanent base code for the hardware to interact with other hardware and software and how the item operates.
