Well since you compared a non reference $530 680 to a reference $430 7970 GE..

7970 Matrix Platinum >680DC2 > 7970GE > 680 stock > 7970 stock

7970 Matrix Platinum is included in a new build I'm currently working on, so I'm looking forward to benchmarking the crap out of it with 12.11 and posting the results in a couple days.

Could you also try how quiet you can make the fan curve with the card staying at 70c or so?

Or like this

any OCed 7970 GE or not > any OCed gtx680

The fact that the normal 7970 with its pretty low core clock can match a GTX680 in BF3, which can turbo to 1100mhz easily, just goes to show that the 7970 will be the faster card when OCed. All a user needs to do is go into CC and boost their core clocks 100-200mhz and they would have a much faster card for less $. Though most of the other games come out with the stock 7970 on top of the GTX680, BF3 is just one of those game they are neck and neck. a 1-2fps difference is neck and neck BTW.

Though I doubt any stock OCed GTX680 could take on a 7970GE now, at best they would just be close. 7970 still has more headroom, gains more from a overclock, and CF scales better then SLI so thats always a plus.

Sure, but my new build includes the Silverstone FT03 so I'm not sure if the results will be comparable to a mid or full-size case

Would still be interesting to see if this card will fit in my semi-silent build

I don't even know why Renairy is still posting here. You regretted your $1000 purchase at the start of the thread and now you're defending your purchase like your life depended on it. I don't see why you're not happy with one of the fastest GPU available and just move on with your life? You're obviously gonna be trolled by the AMD fanboys in an AMD thread, so why bother?

Please don't turn this thread to another closed thread like in the past.

HD 7970 Ghz Ed. > Any GTX 680 (in BF3)

Enough said. The 7970 Ghz Ed. costs less and is faster. Until Nvidia releases a driver that is designed to increase the performance of the Kepler architecture, that's all there is to it.

If you ask for graphs, I recommend you do a google search. There's probably hundreds of them.

I will say most of the NV fans who are here to grief make such a good job or trying to sound calm, collected and impartial that the mods just overlook it and pretend it's a civilized conversation. Even if it's inciting massive trolling everywhere else including the poor NV threads where most people then get trolled by AMD user who're tired of the NV trolling so ONLY go in there to troll.

Two wrongs don't make a right, I understand the trolling on NV as retaliatory but it isn't right. The NV users are few who come in here lying and trolling and the many are still pretty calm and don't post incendiary posts 90% of the time..

Bans and warnings are in order, there is no way that the mods haven't seen the most viewed threads the last few days and I can't believe they haven't at least stepped in to calm things.

It's mostly a 2-7% or so boost for a few games and a huge 15% on Riddick which seemed to have had a bug before that held back performance. NV can't really counter with anything they just don't have the time those drivers where already in the pipeline and most likely just pushed out a few days early, I wouldn't call it a response per se.

Seems like a nice driver update though, most normal users (non magical shareholders in either company) should be pretty happy with how well the performance is with these new cards with drivers, maybe not with prices when compared to the 4XXX/260/280 or 460/470/480/5770/5850/5870 but still not bad.
