Buying a SSD?

Thread Starter
So i wanna get a ssd but dont have much experience with them, ive looked up alot about them and had narrowed it down to 3 i think would be the best for me.

Samsung 830
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=74132&vpn=MZ-7PC128B%2FWW&manufacture=Samsung%20Memory%20%26%20Storage

Crucial M4
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=60445&vpn=CT128M4SSD2&manufacture=CRUCIAL%20TECHNOLOGY&promoid=1295

OCZ Vertex 4
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=69936&promoid=1295

I was leaning towards the Vertex4 but alot of people say u have to upgrade the software to get full performance, and im not sure if its worth the hassle when i can choose another ssd and not have to worry about that.
If you can give me some advice id appreciate it.

You couldn't go wrong with any of those, all are solid picks.

+1 for the 830. It's awesome!

Neutron from corsair is good. Kinda lowish write speeds but the new controller gives the advertised speeds unlike the force series did.

Wait for Sean, They will all do a great job realistically.

Im not aware that you have to upgrade the Vertex 4, but its not difficult, just plug it in and download the installer from OCZ to get the latest firmware... Then go through the OS install process

Well one of the main things about the vertex4 is the 5 year warranty which makes it very appealing, but at the same time its read/writes is very good. Ya i dont think itll be hard to update the software just seem like a hassle but w.e. They're basically all the same price so its just the matter of choosing one lol

Ive got a Vertex 4 and its been flawless so far but as stated, they are all great picks. thumb.gif

What software are ppl telling you that needs to upgrade?

I had mine for about a month or so and it already was loaded with the latest firmware (1.5 if memory serves)
