Looking for a RAID controller...

So I currently have
  • 2x - 1.5 tb WD green drives
  • 2x - 2.0 tb WD green drives

None of these drives have proper backups... and i've read horror stories. While the data can be recovered from outside sources, this would not be preferred.

So I'm building a HTPC with an ITX board. I was hoping to use this as a storage server too. The issue is the itx board only has 4 sata ports...

Here's what I'm thinking
  1. Get 4x 4tb drives
  2. Get a RAID card
  3. Profit???

I would then ditch my current drives (or a majority of them).

I'm using about 3.5TB right now, so using 4x 2tb drives wouldn't work (only 5 spaces available for 3.5 inch drives) meaning I cannot get the dell card that everyone recommends here..

speed is not a priority really, since this will be primarily used for storage (just holding stuff).

Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance
