I've had a few computers hooked up to a 50" and have found HDMI to be the best way to do it.
E6400 chip will be plenty for that stuff and more!
Download K-Lite Codec Pack and use MPC-HC... it will use hardware acceleration even on the Intel built-in graphics.

Your chip can't fit in that one, but it comes with a CoreDuo mobile (can be upgraded to Core 2 Duo mobile for literally dollars!) and 2gb ram... might be a little bargain.

Chip will slot straight in this one.

Both have built-in graphics... bye bye 8800GT, hello slimline HTPC case.

You won't need a powerful PSU to run this at all, so if you want to go for a smaller HTPC case with a small factor 300W PSU then this would be fine too.
