At the rate they're going, by the time they retire the thing it won't do anything but turn on and make that annoying startup sound.

Does not effect me any. I will still buy there next console as I dont fold anyways. Sure folding is important but its not for everyone.

Its sad to see it go, even if it didn't produce that much. I hope it returns with the next generation

This. I'm not even paying for electricity, and the amount of heat the PS3 puts out alone isn't worth the piddly 900ppd.

So it's about epeen and not helping to find cures for diseases? If it were a PS3 that found a cure for cancer, would you then balk at it because it didn't produce nnumbers worthy of epeen?

Maybe they discontinued it because it wasn't widely used? Hey, I even offered my ps3 as a folding rig 24hrs a day to any team here on OCN. No one would take it because of the petty attitude that it wasn't producing enough ppd.

It's no longer about doing good to try and help your fellow man, it's all about a number for bragging rights. That's just appalling.

And the winner for talking things COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTEXT for 2012, is YOU!

I've got a number of folding rigs, and for the amount of power and heat the PS3 uses to fold, I easily get more out of on a newer power efficient rig. It simply made no sense to have it running. Also, people were more than happy to have PS3's sign on during the Chimp challenge, so I think you probably took things out of context there too.

If you need some prozac to change your attitude, or ritalin to calm yourself down, I think I've got some in the cabinet.

Funny, I don't see anything out of context. You called 990ppd piddly. I would think any amount going toward the cause would be worth the effort.

When it's heating up my apartment to an unbearable level, and I'm getting more than quadruple the points out of a system that uses less energy and produces less heat, yes, the PS3 does produce a "piddly" amount of points.

Round 3: Fight!

It's gone...it's all gone. I thought I'd be able to keep folding by not updating, but they cut the servers entirely sad-smiley-002.gif
