very sad indeed.

I was a hardware reviewer for five years, and received this as a review sample. I'm not going to throw away a $1000 CPU because I signed on the dotted line.

Don't be silly.

So when are these being officially released? Been waiting since they were announced since I don't want to have to keep reinstalling beta drivers redface.gif

Could be as early as this month or as late as February. Just depends on when we're finally happy with this branch of driver code.

Thracks,

One question, what is the performance of Opengl in the 12.11 for 7xxx cards, and is there nothing that you guys can do about the cloud shaders in FSX ? Because the clouds eats fps and the ATI cards don't perform with clouds well.

I do have some artifacts appear in dx9 like a rod in FSX. This is the only DX9 title I have and don't play any other games except I flying.

DON"T MAKE ME GO TO NVIDIA. smile.gif

Will we see a hotfix again for the 7970 desktop / video playback issues before WHQL?

Dude you're better off not going to Nvidia. I've done my analysis before buying 5770 and again before buying my 7850. When Nvidia cards decide to malfunction, they do it in style with screen discoloring and heat ups. They offer less bit for the same price range which will clearly bottlekneck the PC at a point. And most of all, their driver support often ends up being a mess at one point in time. This 12.11 beta series might not be going so well but it certainly proves a point through AMD's continuous driver updates. AMD cards lasted way past their warranty lifetimes for me. Can't say the same for my old Nvidia lol

I had few Nvidia cards for testing. I have to agree only with single thing and that is that they currently have better drivers.

In the past I faced similar or worse problems with Nvidia as with HD 7970 now.

At all I have to agree that since March when i bought my first HD 7870 the selfsame problem with the driver persist...

Any Far Cry 3 fixes coming? There are a lot of AMD owners complaining about a stutter on Rage 3d. I had to cap the framerate for acceptable performance. Even then if I use 4x msaa I sell the same stutter that [H] saw. The checkerboard artifacts also seem to be pretty common with the latest beta and cap. Tri and quad-fire don't appear to work for a lot of people.

I'm sort of surprised to see this with an AMD game, especially so long after launch.

I remember reading (on this thread) of a problem that I currently have... but cant find it anymore

I have been with Nvidia ever since my first build, but am glad to say I just switched to a Club3d 7950. I'm running 2 monitors off the card, when playing some a movie (VLC player, HD and SD) or any flash video (youtube, vimeo, etc) my second screen flickers shortly on video start and stop.

The card is overclocked using Afterburner's latest non-beta version. AMD driver is the latest beta. 12.11

Does anyone know why this happens? No crash or anything, just a tad annoying tongue.gif
