AMD 12.11 Beta Drivers - Page 16

Wow these drivers disturb me! Complete and utter trash. Installed it and I get blue screen after blue screen. But more then that it just acts flaky, screen flickering etc. Also programs that would seem completely irrelevant won't open, then take time opening then finally they open after some time. All issues I didn't have 2 minutes before I installed 12.11 +caps. The more power of the 7970s, better OCing and vram/memory bandwidth make 7970s seem so much better but at this rate combined with the low %s usage as well Im not actually getting better performance then i would on the green team. think I might just have to switch to 670s.

People say nvidia make crap drivers too but not in my experience, I had minor issues but nothing got completey broke like when i switched to amd. And then fixed but the fixed thing then became broke. Amd is incompetent. Never knew how much stuff I could have problems with and how much simply wouldnt work when I was nvidia. Got spoiled by the competent team. /end rant

While playing FIFA 11, i notice a lot of screen tearing.
YouTube videos, lag, as in the movement is slow...

sorry, did not mean to say that. Others are having success of this driver....I believe there's a rep here working with us I suggest you talk to him instead of ranting about the driver not working for you...I'm sure with a tweak here and there...you'll be fine soon enuff....

AMD seems to develop drivers in a fashion where they put a lot of effort in whatever the focus on that particular driver is and then screw it up by reintroducing a bug that was already fixed on an earlier driver release. Incremental progress would be a welcomed change. You know, a scenario where a new driver works at least as well as the older one in every single aspect with some clear advantages here and there.

That being said, the 12.11b is a legendary driver performance-wise. Now get it working in CF with flawless power state control and mouse cursor movement without breaking anything that is working now. thumb.gif

Nothing that was previously fixed has been re-broken in this driver. If you're seeing the bug, it's one that we've been working to fix for a while. Just because you see it doesn't mean we can reproduce it in our lab (hundreds of systems running 24/7).

Take the Medal of Honor crash we fixed in Beta 4. It was caused by a condition with a statistical probability of occurring that's lower than winning your local lottery. The fact that we found it is somewhat miraculous.

I hope you'll be buying a lottery ticket this week Thracks based on that statistical probability. biggrin.gif
