Hi,
Here are a concern related to the ulps several French site :

In my case, I am faced with a situation that is limited to the inexplicable, to cross with my 7970 ref.
Basically since the catalyst 12.7beta, monitoring softwares like GPU-Z or freezer HWinfo64 make the machine (either freeze or BSOD) after a stint in 3D.
The most amazing thing is that I'm throwing them BSOD just after making a 3DMark without touching anything, everything @ stock.
But that's when ULPS is disabled.
When I reactivate the ULPS I can do as much or benchs @ stock OC via MSI AB I want, it does not freeze by launching an app monitoring behind.
With cat 12.4, ULPS ON or OFF, no problem.
Not tested with cat 12.5 and 12.6.

It's still terrible story, I have to disable all ULPS normally runs with the cross, even without touching anything.

My install of Win7 must have 3 months but history have the heart net, I do an install on a HDD with the minimum and see if I still have the fire ULPS not to crash after a session in 3D (or bench game).

What misery these drivers also from the purchase of 7970, it does not stop, I can not more ... lol

exactly the same problem in 7970 cf of lightning with ulps disable when I open once or gpu- z, afterburner or trixx but no worries Appears when I open a second one of these soft, the pc freeze every time
soon as the two pass cg 3d after 2d and back and I open an app monitoring === > freeze
I tested with 12.8, 12.9 , 12.10, and all beta 12.11 and still the same concern , and I found that this problem arises from 12.8, down from the VGU in idle
only solution I found, and then reactivate the ulps no worries

having said that with 12.11 the frame latency issues in skyrim and borderlands 2 are known to AMD. AMD has promised a driver fix for borderlands 2. also they have stated a new memory manager has been in development and they are accelerating the release schedule. these bring performance and frame latency improvements.

as for saying AMD is the only one with driver issues is just bias. Nvidia has issues of their own with BF3 stuttering in 310.70 and 310.90. this is a common complaint.

In the second report, literally the only game they retested from the first report was Skyrim. Every other game was newer. That is why the conclusions were different. I'd like to see benchmarks on the newest games anyway, and now we know that the HD 7950 may have inherent latency issues with brand new games.

And v-nom001, is disabling ULPS even supported? Isn't that kind of an "at your own risk" thing?

Finally! biggrin.gif

If this new driver does not fix EVERY single flicker, freeze, texture corruption and frame latency screwed up by the past couple of drivers, i'm definitely going back to nvidia.

doubtful, as they just found a fix right before xmas. It takes at least 3 weeks for WHQL certification.

This WHQL is basically 12.11 with some FC3 fixes...

never experienced those. both on my 6870 and 7950. for the 7950, i've used 12.8,12.10 and currently at 12.11. must be your particular card. 12.10 raised my temp but that's it.

Im using 12.8 atm which gives me the best overall experience, no flickering or any issues whatsoever, the problem starts when i switch to either 12.10 or 12.11 beta 11, those drivers get my stuff completely crazy.

I have to believe that a card running flawlessly with a particular driver cannot be considered faulty after a driver update.

always (any driver) experienced those with 3 different 7850s tested in 2 different systems. 12.11 b11 fixed a lot DX9C-flickering (as promised in the changelog) Some dx9 games still flicker.
