AMD 12.11 Beta Drivers - Page 45

post #441 of 1877
I'm using MSI afterburner and it does not happen in windows 7. It happens in dx9 games. I have never seen it in BF3. Street fighter and NFS it shows up a bunch.

Since it does NOT happen when you dont overclock, its hard to say, since it doesnt happen in windows 7 when you do overclock. probably best to see just what fixes AMD makes for directX 9.0C and what effect the flickering fix has on other issues.

@Thracks:
for the technically minded people, do you know what exactly was causing the flickering? Did it have to do with that Vertex Primitives thing, DrawIndexedPrimitives() being passed too many vertices? (or was that just a side effect?) Was it a hardware issue on the card itself? Maybe you cant disclose the information but for some people who are interested in hardware stuff (and who may get into the field in the future), might be nice knowedge to have...

If you want my honest opinion I think its related to MSI afterburner. Possibly it does not like windows 8?

I am not a driver or board engineer. I cannot speculate that that person's analysis is remotely correct, nor would it be be proper to speculate as to why the issue might be occurring. In this thread alone, for example, all the proposed causes for the idle clock bug have proven incorrect when we discovered the root issue. wink.gif

MSI Afterburner is its own can of worms. I won't say much more than that.

The idle bug has been around going all the way back to 12.5 though? What took you so long? You realize it only affected crossfire users until now. And now everyone's complaining because it affects everyone...

What about the no signal lockup problem that affects 7870 the most?

Is there any official word about it?

Because it's a well known problem.

You mean this here:

Black screens and Radeon HD7870: a solution ?

That was Sapphire's fault, using subpar components, not AMD's, who informed all of its board partners.

are you aware that myself and a few others have seen Artifacts by switching to these drivers? I am not 100% sure why but I switched back to 12.10 and everything is back to normal. The new 12.11 drivers ran fantastic until that one day my card started artifacting. I noticed it alot in WoW but so far after the switch to 12.10 I have not seen any as of yet.

I have a custom fan profile set and my GPU never exceeds over 60c in temps with long gaming sessions. I played 4 1/2 hours of WoW and my GPU never broke 53c

Your going to need to RMA your card honestly. No drivers will fix this issue. It was a quality control slip up.
