more fps means better input

In my case, capping exactly at 60FPS, I get the worst tearing I can get... Even worse than uncapped. 57FPS and below, or 63FPS and above the situation become better. For instance, on BF3 capping at 65FPS I get the best results. Obviously depends on the game and other things.

I had sent my months-old for RMA for this very reason. They found it problematic, they sent new, but... 12.11 beta drivers or whichever version. Catalyst devs are telling us they suddenly realised it? Anyhow, this is going back, likewise. I was unlucky with AMD -first time in my 15+ years experience I got AMD card, and... Maker's breath!

If I get the 670 and have to deal with stuttering issues, it would be time for me to abandon PCs altogether. May the Maker have mercy on me! tongue.gif

Night and day? Pushing 120fps to a 60Hz screen vs. 60fps? Oh please.

Sure, 120fps means shorter delay. What good that is to anyone with a 60Hz monitor when you only get actual output every 1/60th of a second is beyond me. Your GPU gives you less lag but your monitor won't.

To extend this OT a bit, you will need vsync to stop tearing regardless of limiter. If you just limit your frame rate to 60, it won't be in sync with monitor refresh. In fact, 60fps limit means you'll be off sync every frame. Vsync can cause substantial lag if done the wrong way, but I always try to find a way to use it. RadeonPro gives many options to get it working right.

I have tested this every which way there is. I can't see it at all and I don't even know of a theoretical mechanism in which it could possibly have an effect. Unreal Engine 3, as all other such monitoring functions can only show you the lag in the GPU's output buffer. They don't know anything about what's being done to the signal inside the monitor and as such, do not tell you anything of the real lag in the actual image that the monitor outputs.

your running a amd your always going to be bottlenecked lol j/k well best way to check is overclock more if your not seeing a differnce from 12.8 to 12.11 somthing is wrong for sure.

is anyone having fps problems playing wow in the jade forest on 7970 cards and the 12.11 6beta drivers. i have just installed wow and my fps is 31-41 my 5870 was much better on max setting than this.

is the drivers ?

No, but have your LUA error reporting enabled to see if any addons cause problems. There are also many very poorly written add-ons that can definitely cause fps drops, such as Recount with fps monitor on. Other than that, it's a function of your CPU, addons, and what's going on in the area.
