Edit- nevermind, I always assumed that Debian, ubuntu and Linux mint were synonymous with eachother.

Ubuntu is based on Debian and Linux Mint ( just Mint ) is based on Ubuntu. But Ubuntu changed a lot of stuff from Debian, which is why ubuntu and debian things don't always play nice, even while they are the same base.

Linux Mint Debian Edition follows Debian Testing, hence why there is no version numbers, testing is always testing updates just roll out, except for right now as Debian testing is in a freeze getting everything wrapped up nicely to ship out Wheezy. At whcih point, updates will start being more frequent again.

In that case, after this thoughtful correction I recommend

Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon.

Not in my experience, I was running LMDE a good couple of months before the change freeze, and apart from Update Pack 5, I think I received 1 update to MintUpdate and 1 update to Firefox. When I was running Ubuntu, I'd expect to see 1 package upgrade every few days at least. It's a bit frustrating that Debian Testing is updated all the time, but where LMDE packages these up into an Update Pack, you don't see the updates until their ready. In theory, this brings stability, but in my experience that isn't true either (with Cinnamon getting a battering after UP5)
