Facebook on Android vs IOS6 - which is better?

Thread Starter
I bought my wife a TF201 and as much as she likes it, she is constantly frustrated with "facebook". Personally, I dont even use FB, but for some reason my better half is obsessed with it. She basically wants a 10" wireless facebook app! :S

My question is - Im thinking of selling my TF201 and moving her to Ipad3. Does anyone have experience with facebook on both JellyBean and IOS6? is the apple version better?

Here complaints are (facebook app)
its looks like crap
its hard to read
its doesnt navigate like the website

but if she uses the website its good but the chat feature bugs everything up...

Any advice is appreciated!!!

From what I've heard, they're both equally crappy. It may be marginally better, but if you think switching to an iPad will provide a marked increase in user experience for your wife, you'd be barking up the wrong tree. I'd day it's more of an issue with Facebook under-developing the mobile aspect of their service, a problem that they have recently been vocal about starting to address for the survival of the company.

It may be worth checking out reviews of the Surface RT when it is released and compare it to the iPad, as far as Facebook goes. The TF doesn't sound like it's meeting her needs.

iOS has the superior Facebook. Facebook for Android JUST got the option to upload mobile pictures into albums...

Believe it or not, it's BEST on a Windos Phone. It's baked right into the OS. The phone allows you to see FB feeds directly on your contacts page. YOu can actually post to a FB wall from your contacts list. Or post pics and tag pics to FB direcctly from your camera. You can FBchat from the text message options on your phone...all this without even loading the FB app. (or even downloading it.) The people in your contacts list will have their FB pictures as part of thier profile in the contacts hub of the phone. And all this will be improved with WP8...along with Skype integration...Twitter, LinkedIn, Windows IM, etc are also already baked into the OS.

Is Windows 8 RT going down the same road? If so, it sounds like the Surface might be an excellent alternative if everything else (i.e. hardware and software) flies come its release.

Exactly. So on your start screen you have a People tile. The live tile updates with posts. Once you open the tile it is loaded with your contacts. Once you link your FB etc to it. It will be a constant stream of your friends from all the networks you share with them. You can also pin a person to the start screen as well, so you can see live updates per person.
Also the Message app in Windows 8 for your PC, tablet what ever has the same capability. My girlfriend "texts" me from her laptop to my Windows phone all the time because her message app is connected to FB chat...and my txting on my phone is connected to FB...we now can FB IM without even opening FB at all.
Now Skype and others will be integrated into WP8 onced released in Nov.

Does that help fill in the blanks???

BTW, this is why I'm so high on Windows 8 and windows phone. It basically brings you down to ONE contact list. Not a separate contact list per social network. Also being able to contact anyone via that contact, rather than via the social network. Very simple.
The photos app in Windows 8 works very similarly to the Windows Phone app. You open Photos, and there you have your Camera Roll, saved photos(local storage), Your FB photos, and other peoples FB photos...by person.

Actually here is a suggestion. Sign up for outlook.com. link it to your MSN.com or Hotmail.com...or what ever account you have. Then link your FB account. At the top of your webpage you will see a large OUTLOOK. Next to it there is a down arrow. Click on it and select PEOPLE. this will bring you to your contacts. This is a very dumbed down version of what is on the Windows 8 OS and Windows Phone OS. You can post directly to peeps walls and message them from your email account. Very cool.

Android has that too, not natively but via app.

My gf has an old iPhone 3GS (using as an ipod now) and a Samsung Galaxy SII and she likes the Facebook app on the iPhone much better. The Facebook app on android force closes on her and lags a lot. I havent experienced any of the issues with my phone really, but she does say that the iPhone Facebook App is better.
