How to overclock C2D E6600

Thread Starter
HELLO ALL

i dont know where to start, as you can see from my specs below, i have not skimped too badly on my cooling device or motherboard. i currently have the ram in SLI mode so all that is left to do is overclock the processor. what should i do before i overclock it? how exactly do i overclock it? when do i know if i am seriously destroying my PC (Besides the obvious explosions of light and such). based on my cooling solution and computer, what should i do?

thanks for all the help

To answer that question, your computer won't let itself be destroyed unless you want it to be destroyed. If you stay within the recommended voltages and tempatures of all your components, your good. First, start by exploring your bios' OCing section. You want to set the OCing options to manual mode instead of automatic. Set your vMCH (motherboard voltage) to 1.6v, then set your PCI-E bus to 100 (or PCI to 33.33 or nearest setting to that), disable options such as "detect PCI clock" "Spread Spectrum". Raise up the bus speed of the processor slowly until unstable. Once unstable, up the CPU vcore by small incraments (believe 1.6v is max on your board, so keep it around 1.45 depending on temps). SEt your memory timings to auto for now and we will work on those after we maxed out the processor.
