Guys. It's Italy. They are pretty much as anti-science as one nation can be. You don't get to be the home of the Pope if you aren't spitting in the face of logic.

But another thing, predicting earthquakes? That's not every really been possible as it? It's more like "Oh, there may or may not be an earthquake here at some point... or not... maybe."

I really hope someone with a brain steps up in the Italian court system and fights for those scientists.

My money is on this being overturned on appeal. But then again, this is the same country that kept voting Berlusconi into office, so I don't know. I don't suppose any of the scientists are over the age of 70? Because they would not have to worry if they were.
