The improvement over fx8150 seems good.

wow the benchmarks at http://www.cowcotland.com/articles/1199/test-processeur-amd-fx-8350.html are crazy!!! i cant even believe how close it comes to the Ivy Bridge i5 and i7s! If these benchmarks are 100% true, then i gotta say AMD did an great job with Piledriver and im sure many people will buy these CPUs.

conclusion

You will see the conclusion of this article is difficult to write. At first, we might be tempted to criticize this processor, because even if the performance is up, we are, from our point of view, far account for a processor Octo-Cores at 4.0 GHz, except in the level of consumption where it is clearly better, but better is to qualify as competition keeps hold of this field.

Indeed, with such a powerhouse, at least on paper, clearly we stayed on our hunger, because we thought it would be new FX finally make the big picnic Procos Santa Clara. But the discovery of the advertised price of this processor, we realized that the policy was not AMD that we thought. With 8350 AMD is, is more on Quad-Cores Intel. Indeed, € 189 processor, this model is very affordable, leaning almost as different prices Quad-Core without HT blues.

And € 189, we believe that this new FX this time is an attractive alternative, because the performances are good, even excellent on large production tasks, in addition, the OC at 5.0 GHz is the finger in the nose. By cons, as often it will do with a higher consumption than there competition.

The slated retail price at launch for the FX-8350 is $195 USD. The Intel Core i5 3570K is presently retailing for around $230 and the Intel Core i7 3770K is around $330. In other words, the AMD FX-8350 is offered at a rather competitive value for fairly high-end desktops and workstations against Intel's latest Ivy Bridge offerings -- if you're commonly engaging in a workload where AMD CPUs do well.

If what I'm reading is correct, I will be building my next build with AMD.

Edit: BTW, ignore my sig. That build was sold off.

Nice performance there. I see the gap between the FX 8350 and i5 3570K/ i7 3770K much closer than how it was with FX 8150 when compared to the i5 2500K/ 2700K.
Hope Steamroller get the gap even closer.

Wow... very competitive with the i5 in most workloads and seems to perform much better than Bulldozer in games... even competes with the quad-core i7s more often than not.

Consumption is considerably better, consuming about as much power at 4GHz as the 8120 did at 3.1GHz. Not bad.

The overclocking potential is great as well.

I'm happy with these results, obviously. This is more like what Bulldozer should've been. I might just pick one up to play around with, considering that it's pretty affordable.

This also puts the final nail in the coffin of Phenom II.
