[Various] AMD Piledriver FX-Series CPU Reviews (Vishera FX-8350, FX-8320, FX-6300, FX-4300) - Page 230

Should I get an 8320? I need a new CPU, and I'm looking at Piledriver. Is it better to get an 8320 for overclocking? I've read in various places that the 8320 and 8350 overclock exactly the same, and are capable of virtually the same performance.

They are not. 8320s will require more voltage for the same clocks when overclocking.

Are they capable? Yes. Will it take more cooling and volts to get the job done? Yes.

Which ='s more heat. I originally thought I'd skimp on the $60 and go for the 8320 but now that I"ve seen OC results, definitely going for the 8350 in a couple of months. Maybe tax season.

All depends, doesn't it? $60 is the difference beteween a KÜHLER 620 and my H100, but If you look at the list, 8320s can get to 4.8-5.0 on H100s, while 8350s can only get to 4.6-4.8 on 620s.

You already have a RASA Kit. For you, it is obviously better to get a 8350. Save that $60 by getting a Saber or UD7 instead of a CH V. tongue.gif

My results so far, Ram is running at 2133 and 1t with timings shown. Have an antec kuhler 620 max temp 62c after full testing, p/p setup. Should I raise my nb to 2500? I believe i should leave it under ht link?

Though it could be caused by vsync.

... Yes, it's caused by VSync, as I said I locked it at 60.

Also, take the time to explain to me how 50% on 6 cores, in a game that can use 6 cores, is CPU bottlenecked? Please. I want to hear this logic.

If the GPU isn't at or near max usage, its CPU limited. But the reverse is not true, a low CPU % does not show its GPU limited.

The fact that the CPU isn't at max % doesn't mean that its faster than the game requires, so its just taking it easy. I believe it has do to with how much of the core is being used. Perhaps someone who knows more than I can elaborate.
