Ok, I have a 965be with an am3+ mobo. Would a fx 6300 be a decent upgrade? I can scrounge up enough money to get a 6300(being the 4300 looks like a waste of time). Any suggestion? I do gaming and light video editing for game clips.

I've seen this posted at least 3 times already so I'll answer it. NO, no FX 6xxx chip can be considered an upgrade over a PII 955BE or better. the FX 8xxx perform better, nothing ground breaking, and the lower models usually just come up short. the clock speeds (and power consumption) will go much higher, but no matter the task, performance just won't. go FX 8320, go intel or just keep what you have.

In my opinion, probably not. the 965 is still pretty stout for gaming - ( i choose it over my 2600K rig to play games on)

Guys, send them support emails and tell them to get off their passes and get to working on some bios for us.

We've got some purchase power here, let's exercise it.

The base frequency for the FX-8120 was 3.6Ghz right?
FX-8350 is 4.0ghz, so logically if you increased 3.6 to 4.3, then this 4.0 should safely go to 4.6 within the thermal envelope, and with no volt increase. But then again each chip is different rolleyes.gif
I'm strongly hoping you get 4.6 with a mild volt increase, and the future bios allows 5.0Ghz at 1.5v within the thermal envelope if its winter.

Other than their extremely high-end motherboards, they have been releasing garbage for everything else and not standing behind their product for a long time. People have just been blind. There have been quite a few posts on this forum about ASUS customer support and people slapped them on the wrists, and then continued to buy their products lol.

Actually the base frequency was 3.1 ghz, it's overclocked to 4.3ghz(1200mhz) at 1.36 volts wink.gif
