Well I was actually referring to the wall type units, but I guess a portable AC might work... But you'll need to expel the heat THAT produces too LOL (usually via a window duct - which is why split-system might be better).

just read up on the split units. Thats a little more then I want to pay to cool the room. I could do a portable unit for around 200$ other then that it seems there is no other solution

I have a wall AC unit. It makes a load of difference. It also takes much less power than running central air. 200 dollars will get u a great wall unit, but itll be way overkill for the room. Look for something 5000 BTU and up.

I was being entirely serious. Dissipation is easier when the heat source reduces its thermal output and air can move.

Windows and doors. Add a fan in the room somewhere, too.

Yes!! My gtx 580 makes a nice space heater for me in the winter when I try to cut back on gas bills
