EVGA GTX 570 hd 1.2 GB overclock questions - Page 2

My old 570 HD did 850 @ 1v and 800 @ .987v. I had a golden clocker though. Keep pushing her! smile.gif I had mine at 1GHz 24/7 @1.175v and it maxed out everything at 1440p.

Im still pretty new to GPU overclocking, and im pretty sure ive screwed up bigtime here :/

ive overclocked the gpu to these levels:
core speed: 810 Mhz
ram speed:1900 Mhz
shader speed: 1620 Mhz
core voltage 1.050 v

im using MSI afterburner to overclock the gpu. i restart the computer when i apply changes, just to be safe.

i have tested the gpu at both stock and overclocked speeds using OCCT and the results are fairly similar: it passes most of the time, but it frequently errors are reported. so maybe it could be a hardware issue with my graphics card?
could my overclocking over the course of just 2 days have damaged the gpu? the temps have gotten up to 80 degrese celcius at a few points so maybe heat damage?

the issue is, well, im getting bluescreens now. im not sure if a gpu issue could even cause a bluescreen, but eitherway the reliability of the machine has fallen. so my questions are this:

could a crappy overclock cause a BSoD?
is the voltage not quite right?
should i use a different program to test?
is there anything obvious im missing?

i have seen many cases of sucsessful overclocks with the same card at much higher speeds so i must be doing something wrong here.

its only gotten the BSoD when gaming (specifically on minecraft, which is weird as its never EVER done this before in the many dozens of hours playing minecraft before i OC'd the gpu)

and i think this may help: its my system http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4652265/version/4652267

i did recently overclock the CPU from 4.3 to 4.5 GHz as well, but that was a few days ago so i dont THINK thats it, but it might be.

also could it be that the card it overheating? but i dont see why that would cause a BSoD though...

Minecraft can be a very intensive game. Prime95 your CPU for a few hours and report back. Also run a Memtest. If you changed your BCLK then your memory might be unstable.

i have changed the BCLK to 103 MHz, but i did that months ago, so that cant be the issue. the CPU has aslo been rock solid for me.

one thing i'd like to know is weather the gpu can even cause a BSoD?

i would take the cpu back to where you had it before the problems started. ive overclocked before and ran the computer for over 24 hours before it crashed. the other thing i noticed is that you have a terrible PSU. I found this out the hard way as i also got one of those a while back. when looking through reviews of it, that PSU doesnt handle anywhere near its rated wattage. that may not be the issue here, but just food for thought.
