Diablo 3, it hurts because I spent 60 euros on it, hype got the best of me mad.gif

Guild Wars 2 is another game I regret paying for, not because its a bad game, but because I preordered it and havn't even touched it because I don't have time for gaming anymore rolleyes.gif

Someone is going to rape and murder me for this but Half Life... I don't know if it was my install or what but I had myself and several other people try to get past one part in the beginning after the explosion and they couldn't. All people that have played it before and know how to do it. No one ever knew what that game's problem was.

The majority of the zones were repetitive copy/paste, something DA2 gets criticized for yet people turn a blind eye to here. Only the few important storyline areas are different, and nothing special at that.
Along with that, gameplay was very repetitive as well. To the point where it was not fun at all towards the end. AI was pretty dumb, both enemy and friendly, which didn't help.
Character development was mediocre. Halfway through the game I stopped caring what I put points into and just let the game do it itself. Towards the end, it felt like it didn't matter.
Very easy to get the best gear.
Completing all the side missions felt like a chore more than anything. Gave up on completing everything.
The stories were mixxed. Some were decent, some were terrible. I feel like the "Spectre" position was created specifically to justify allowing you to run wherever you pleased and doing as you pleased. The overall story was average. By the end, I felt like it had not progressed very much for the amount of game time. I suppose doing side missions pads the game time vs story development, but then if you just focus on the main story it would be a very short game. The story of your companions I absolutely despised. Most of your companions' reasons for joining you basically boiled down to "Hi! Want to help me?" "OK LOL!" Just look at Wrex. He joined you because you were after the same person, and then he just stays with you? Its like they just gave up once they threw him in your group.
None of the characters felt like they had any depth to them. They might develop more in the later games, but they had this entire game to do it and nothing happened?
I got 1 and 2 together during a sale around the time 3 came out. I never installed 2. Like I said, there are certainly worse games, but there was not a single aspect of this game that wow-ed me, and along with the huge hype train behind it, was a big let down.

You should check out 2. I had a lot of the same complaints about the first game, and the second addressed most of them-- it's not repetitive, the storyline and background writing are better, the equipment system is completely overhauled, and they got rid of the mako. My biggest complaint is the damn scanning/resource system, but a savegame editor fixes that problem pretty easily.

Definitely import your savegame, or download one to import, or you're stuck with all of the most boring plot decisions from the first game.

I thought Half life 1 was pretty good...The puzzles were actually puzzles for the most part. Like I remember this one part that to get to the next level you have to get in this shaft that had a big fan and it would "blow you up". That took a little figuring out as it wasn't a normal mode of transportation and there are a lot of puzzles that were like that.

Then comes Half Life 2...

in HL2 all they wanted to do was show off their new physics. Oh gee, the wrong side of a ramp is down for me to move on...what will I do? These cinder blocks that would make good counter weights can't help me or anything. In other words...the answer to almost every puzzle was given to you like you were playing Resident Evil. You just had to find what you needed. The "puzzles" then just became chores you had to do to continue moving forward. I finished the game once and I have never installed it again. If HL3 continues this trend I'd rather it never happens...which is looking like it might be the case.

FFXIV was atrocious upon release. FFXIV 2.0 is decent though.

Sacred 2 fallen angel, game played flawlessly and even saved, but upon exiting the game, I would get a bsod. Even alt tabbing to the desktop and shutting it off through task manager gave the same result.

You know they gave me the game for free when it came out, they did the same for almost all the HL Games and SOurce Games since I had been part of early betas way way way back before HL 1 came out and was part of TFC, CS and DOD early on too.

But TF2, was a Massive let down for me.. Since I was a Tournament player for Team Fortress Classic, and a Mid to High level SKills Map player, like Rocket jumping and Conc jump maps, I was completely unhappy with the fact that they removed secondary grenades.

Without Concussion Grenades the game became just a crappy game.

Half Life was awesome at the time because what First Person shooter had an actual story line??

Felt like you were actually working towards a goal in that game, kind of like the original Duke Nukem, where you were just Compelled to keep going, and find the Babes thumb.gif

I agree with you on HL2

WHile nice looking, it seemed more like a Source Engine Demo then an actual game.

Not to mention I had been Long done with Dingle Player gaming for a long time.

I have been so tempted to try this game now days...is there much of a population? I would just like something different for a change.

I played in the closed and open Betas some. I was like "seriously? Wow, this game sucks" I was hoping it would get turned around some in the open beta, but not much had changed. Even the three things I reported as not working quite right were still there. I usually don't judge a game in a beta test, but there was just too much stuff that made no sense.

I've been thinking about trying The Secret World as well since it different too...but I didn't really like the combat in the open beta of that either. Heh, this game should be right up my ally. It is almost verbatim of a D20: Modern pen and paper campaign I ran until about five years ago. I had the Templars and the Illuminati going at each others throats. The magic working via weapons and such even. It is a direct copy of nearly everything I did...heh, too bad I didn't copyright it.

I wasn't big on the first one either. The second is the best of the series, IMO.
