Brushed aluminum mouse pad? - Page 2

I have tried glass pads and I'm afraid you are suffering from a couple misconceptions heh smile.gif

Well glass pads don't have much friction at all. If you get new Teflon feet and use that with a glass pad, you have silence, no scratchiness, and a superb smooth glide. Much smoother than many plastic pads I have tried. And they are so hard to scratch and wear out too!

Downside is that your new Teflon feet will wear out in a matter of weeks (maybe a month) and then you will need to either buy new ones or endure a horrible scratching sound as you swipe.

Or you could purchase those Steelseries Glide strips (go over your mouse feet), I found that with my icemat they lasted for months on end, perfect glide with no nasty scratching sounds at all.

I use stock plastic glideres on my mouse...over 5 years later and they are not worn out yet, also very loud, like saying a mechanical keyboard makes no noise...just not going to happen without a new typing style or mods.

Yeah the fact that they are loud is what I mean by worn out. New teflon glides are silent, sounds like you've never experienced it and have no idea what you are missing. The SS Glide Strip things are also quiet. After a while the same teflon feet get very loud = worn out. Happened more than once and with vastly different mice.

Yes, aluminum pads get pretty loud. I've been using the SX with my Imperator for a while now, the SX is 1 year old while the Razer is 3 months old, and the scratching noise can get nasty at times. Maybe I need new feet for my mouse soon. The glide is still quite fast though, I've been so spoiled by the speed that I get with the SX that I cannot go back to cloth pads easily now.
