Never make games into movies. Never make movies into games.

Fixed. Some lotr and some star wars games are the few exceptions.

To be fair, hardly any game based movie has had near as much involvement from the game studio as ubisoft wants with this movie. If ubisoft is able to keep the movie in line with their vision of AC (which so far, has been amazing), it could end up pretty damn good.

AVP2 (the game! THE GAME!) was good.

That's not really fair. tongue.gif Just because you didn't like them doesn't mean they weren't good. Tomb Raider (1st), Silent Hill, Hitman (personal favorite), Max Payne (I know a lot are going to disagree with that), 1st Resident Evil, Prince of Persia was alright and of course Mortal Kombat! xD There might be some I missed. I think there's a 50/50 chance that this will be good or bad.

I'm excited to see how turns out. smile.gif

I'd watch it! I'm one of few who actually enjoyed the campaign's story.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
The part where 2 of your squad members die was a tear jerker redface.gif I didn't see it coming.

I enjoyed BF3s story as well, it wasn't bad at all. Not great... but not bad. I mean, come on, it's a war story... how creative can they really get anymore?

I think there's a LOT of potential in the ideas behind an AC movie... but only if they made 2-4 of them. Trying to condense this into 1, or even 2 movies just wouldn't do the series justice or answer 1/10 of the questions or plot development. I hate to see the trilogy be the go to design, but for BIG ideas like this with so much existing story, choices are limited if you want to really please the fan base.

Avatar is an example where a big story fit into one longer movie, since it was original and didn't have the hype built up. AC has several games with several character, across several generations... even if they went a different direction and didn't make Fassbender fall into the primary story, there's still a lot to go on.

Movies from games have had a hard history for sure, and movies TO games... just as rough since they're usually low quality and forced to release in time with the movie. See... the Cars games frown.gif LOTR was mentioned... but you know that was several books first, decades prior... if you were just referring to those movies being made into games, the games weren't bad really. The MMO... not a great idea, but the games themselves, not bad. Same for the Star Wars games... aside from the MMO, the games weren't bad and some were great. Star Trek didn't have the same luck, but it's had a few decent games lol.

It's a mixed bag, but I'm excited to see this finally moving forward. Too bad with the delays we might not see it until 2014 Q3. That's supposedly on time... but still a long wait.

How dare you use my words against me frown.gif You know what I meant tongue.gif lol

Avatar had a ton of hype around the movie, but it was only the movie and not a few books/games/decades of existing work for people to be expecting it. The horrible naming of the ore in Avatar aside, it was considered fairly original. There have been a lot of examples of mind transference in sci-fi shows, but this is just a different iteration. Beside... this thread isn't about Avatar... leave my reasoning alone! sozo.gif

Give them a chance, I really enjoyed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Granted I've never played a PoP game, as long as I can sit through the movie and be entertained (ie, the thought of leaving has not entered my mind) thats all I expect and want.

I just hope its good, there are literally no good movies to go out and see, ever. Everything is a copy of another, or "insertmovietitlehere 4, the blah blah!"

Fassbender can make any movie good. His performance in Inglorious Basterds was inspired. Well, all the acting in that movie was incredible really...
