Is it safe to use SATA power cable splitter

Thread Starter
i intend to expand my storage but my PSU ran out of power cable (most was lost when i moved house) so i am thinking about using splitter like this to power my hdd.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-Pin-SATA-Male-to-2-SATA-Splitter-Female-Power-Cable-/260746943516?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item3cb5ba9c1c

however is it safe for the hdd and psu do use such splitter?

it should be safe, ive used these before but only because ive had such a splitter. unless you dont have a spare power supply direct connection then use this.
