Diablo 3 sustained microstutter - then smooth. Repeats indefinitely.

I am running a Radeon 6970 CF setup. The thing is, it doesn't matter if I use CF or a single card. The damn stuttering always happens. I noticed that when the stuttering happens, the FPS does NOT drop. The FPS counter (Fraps) stays at 60 while the stutter happens. It does not feel at all like lag either. my ping is under 60 all the time. I feel like there is just some really poor programming in D3 that causes this issue. I even have a brand-new clean install of windows and all updated drivers and it STILL does it. It's not like any videos I've seen so far of micro-stutter issues. The screen doesn't "freeze" briefly like a lot of the Youtube videos show. My issue is like a series of extremely fast frame stutters - it makes the screen seem kind of blurry and "jittery" so to speak. Then all of a sudden it runs perfectly smooth. It doesn't matter where I am in the game or what is going on. It happens all the time like clockwork.

Does anyone else have this issue? I've tried various fixes I've seen including v sync fixes, driver updates and roll backs, and turning off windows real-time protection so it's not scanning all the time. Nothing works. It still happens. This is the only game that does anything like this. I have over 80 games on Steam, and multiple others and none of them have this problem.. Help!

I'm running 6970 CF, 2550K OC to 4.4 Ghz, 8GB 1500 RAM, WD Caviar Black 1TB, ASRock Extreme3 Gen 3, 850 Watt NZXT PSU.

This happens to many people

Something wrong with coding I would say and so far nothing fixed it.

Such a shame because I am not playing the game because of this problem.

What a big let down Diablo 3 became for me because of this issue.

Yeah man. I really enjoy the game. I think it's a fantastic addition to the Diablo series despite the obvious complaints. This particular issue is actually what makes it a let down for me. I t's so amazingly smooth and wonderful when the stuttering is not happening.

Yep same here.

When stuttering doesnt happen I love the game, but when it happens I just get mad and quit.

Bought it day 1. I WANT to play it but I can't because of the stuttering. Diablo 3 experience should not be like that.

I am waiting for a fix but probably it will never happen.
