Who has the fastest X1600pro - Page 2

This is my first post, kinda odd to make it a "brag" about my clock speeds. I was actually searching the boards for info on a volt mod for these boards. I've got the ati x1600pro 512. Anyone know a link for a volt mod tutorial for this board?

Anyways, i've got mine now at 601/468(936). That's as far as i could push it without artifacts through atitool. Runs 50c idle, 63c full load in my new rig. Use to run 61c idle, 75c full load in the old case . Stock cooling. If i can find a volt mod that can allow me to push it further, i'll get some better cooling.

Anyone here up the agp voltage through bios with any positive results? Also, what agp frequency are you guys using? Mine shows 66mhz.

Well, got bored this afternoon, so i did some modding. I replaced the stock heatsink/fan with the HSF that came with my processor. Didn't take much, just had to drill a couple holes in the bottom of the heatsink and thread some small bolts into it. I'm pretty impressed really with the results. Old idle/load temps, 50/63c. New temps, 37/41! And i let ati tools find the new max clocks. 628/482(964) Not bad for a free mod, eh? Gonna run some benches now and see if there is a little improvement. At the previous speeds my scores were 3dmark03 7447; 3dmark05 4454; 3dmark06 2188.

I'll let you know the new scores when i get em. And if your curious, it takes 2 of the pci slots now but i got 5 and am only using one for sound. If anyone wants pics or screenshots, let me know.

Hope this isn't considered thread jacking, just trying to give some support for the x1600pro here.

Also, i know i need a sig. Sorry about that, figured i'd do that after monday, got a new board coming and didn't want to do it twice.

Edit:
Bench results: 03-16675, 05-4697, 06-2342. Ok, i'm scratchin' my head trying to figure out how my 3dmark03 results more than doubled. I thought that it was a glitch, so i ran it again and got just a few less points. Only thing I can think, I had to reinstall directX before i ran the benches because I was getting some kind of driver conflict. Perhaps I was missing something before the update that gave me the low score. Don't know, but if that's the real result, i'll take it. Seeing how 03 tests older technology, it probably is accurate, just had to fix the driver issue.

Ya, ok sorry bout the crappy cell phone pic. Digi is dead right now.

And don't mind the mess. This board is getting rma'd so I haven't felt like cleanin' up till I get the new one.

heh, i made a new thread before i read down the list(DOH!). I have a Sapphire X1600Pro 512 PCI-E and am dying to turn this thing up. My problem is that i know Sapphire sells a pre-overclocked version of this card but i cant get mine to reliably stay over about 560Mhz. The overclocked version is factory 575. Is this card software moddable?? If not i would like to know what Sapphire does to get the extra 75Mhz. You guys seem to know whats up with these things and i like the card, it works pretty good without any mods, but i feel better with the fan turned all the way up(AtiTool). That is a MASSIVE cooler highfigh, i'd think of trying that down the road. I dont use any of my pci slots so i have plenty of room.

From past experience, I've found that the auto finding the max clocks are inaccurate and I got major artifacts from it; better to do it the old fashion way.....

Congrats on your cooler, to bad it takes up all the PCI slots......

Yea, it only takes about 5 minutes to find max clock speeds via ati tray tools, I'm sure they are close, but not totally accurate. I've ran 3dmark 03, 05, and 06, without artifacts, but haven't spent a night gaming lately. THat's the only real test.

I installed some custom ram sinks today. Haven't been able to go any higher yet. Thinking the big hold back is voltage. I might try that pencil mod, but not sure yet. As it is I can play about any game at decent settings, even clocked a bit lower than the max found in ati tray tools, so I should just be happy with what I have, eh?

Question, what is that big chip on the bottom with the pad on it? Whatever it is, it gets hotter than anything else, so I stuck a heatsink on that too. Anyone know?
