Because the Corsair PSU's have a better warranty and if I remember rightly without checking the TX*50V2 are slightly better performance wise than the XFX ones.
Don't get me wrong, either will do the job without any issue what so ever, they are both good, solid PSU's.
I'd personally go with the HCG to be honest. Modular, solid, low ripple etc etc.

From all the reviews I had seen, they perform more or less the same. lol
Well, they both have 5 year warranty, so I'm guessing this has to do more with Customer Support and how they handle their RMAs for warranty support. From my experience (which other may disagree), I had a positive experience with a RMA of this XFX unit. It was hassle-free. Alternatively, he could go with the NZXT Hale82 650w. Same Seasonic platform, 4 native PCIe connectors, good CS, and has modularity.
As for the HCG, I would go with the Corsair, XFX, or NZXT. The voltage regulation of those units are more stable thanks to the DC-DC convertor on the secondary, whereas the HCG-M is a group regulated M12II Bronze unit. It's a good midrange unit though.
Anyways, I still want to know his budget and what specific GPU he will be adding, as calculators tend to overestimate the power requirements of the system. If he only plan on adding one card like the GTX680, he doesn't need any more than a a 550w unit or even a 450w for that matter. If he has a budget of <£100, I would go for a higher-end, lower wattage unit such as the NZXT Hale90 550w.
