Go with C++ or Java

I want to create an application (console one) which will check for newer versions of some programs that I have (media player classic and it's filters). If the version in the site is newer then it will download the newer version delete the older one and store it in a specified folder (maybe even automate the installation procedure).

I am very new to applications like these so it will take some time but my question is should I go with Java or C++ for this "project".

I barely know C++ but it was not that hard last time I checked so I wouldn't mind learning it.

So which one of the 2 languages would make my life easier for an application like that?

if I had to chose I would go with .... mmm.... aaa.......

dam that is hard. C++? not wait java... I don't know. both are good, both are great. Java is much easier in my opinion, but I love C++ to death.

so why not go with C# ?

I think Python would be most suitable for that kind of a program as all the tasks required to create it are really easy to code. C++ would be my last choice unless you just want to learn it.
