Looking to upgrade from headphones to speakers - Page 4

Personally the KRK Rokit 6 is good but not super good IMO. 48Hz being the lowest it goes if you like bass then you will be disappointed, though adding a sub will fix this problem. I have heard both KRK Rokit 6 and the M Audio AV40's in action. The Rokit sounds warmer and is less punchy then the AV40's, the AV40's are more Tinny and the bass punch sounds bad turned up loud. Both of them Sound like your forcing more audio out of the driver then it should when turned up, which is something I was never a fan of. They may be good for Recording and mixing, but music playback its may not daze you. Still the Rokit's are Clean sounding even at higher volumes, and worth the cost over the AV40's thats for sure. Still will be a huge upgrade to what you have. The Rokit's with a Sub will not disappoint, especially if you get a equalizer in the mix. Also for the future I would look at something like HRT Music Streamer II for DAC use, then run that to a Equalizer and from that to the Sub and Monitors. Should give you one nice sounding setup that also is vary good about saving space.

My Polk home theater setup sounds more natural and cleaner then both of those, but also cost a lot more and take up much more room. Though I'm also the type of guy that will turn his receiver to -12 or lower when playing music, which is pretty loud. Though for simplicity sake I would just stick with the KRK's as a high quality AMP will take up room and cost more then your willing to spend.


As regards to your last post, they sent you a DAC. I don't think it comes with the Rokit so they probably sent you the wrong thing. Sorry.
