Its a Bird! No, its a Plane! Nope... just another Prodigy Build....but, not the norm....

Hey guys! I am sure you are getting sick of seeing all of these prodigy builds. Sorry. But, I have been wanting to build one since they came out.

here is the scoop. This is going to be a slow build. One for the wife. Not needed right away, but something I can sink a decent amount of time and money into.

My plans are as follows.....:
Buy whatever I can off the EE to get this rig up and running. So, that could take a week, or a few weeks, months, etc.

Parts already have

Prodigy in White 10/20
Seasonic X750 Gold PSU 10/24
2x4gb Samsung 30nm DDR3 1600mhz Memory (wonder RAM) 10/24
Crucial M4 128GB SSD 10/26

Parts I am looking for:
EVGA Stinger ITX when it comes out
7970 of unknown brand
All of the other parts, I am currently searching for. I am not partial on this build, but it will be watercooled. It will be powering a 2560x1440 Catleap monitor as well.

The only thing I am pretty settled on, is using an Apogee Drive II unit for my pump/cpu block

My Plans will be to start out by modding the MB/PSU tray for fitment issues that I have seen using most PSU's, and most CPU blocks. I will be cutting out the base, and the back of the cage.

So now here is your chance, where you come in.

Have you ever wanted to see something/build something, but couldnt do it? Here is your chance for any input on what to put in this rig, any mods to be done, etc. I am WIDE OPEN on this build, and have the time/resources.

Other than that.... I guess here we go?

Please wait for the EVGA ITX Stinger board, people will just love your build if you use it! You should definitely incorporate a Radeon 7970 into this build since you're running a larger size monitor, and for the fact that the Red Team has been lacking in prodigy builds lately. I can't wait to see where this build goes.

I think I can do that....

7970 wouldnt be too bad for this build, especially under water.

Ordered the Samsung Memory, being on sale for $36, couldnt pass it up

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

For those of you who dont know about this memory, it is simply amazing. I have seen them OC to over 2400mhz with ease, and they are SUPER low profile, able to fit under any heatsink. These are the sticks I will be using in just about any build I do anymore.

Just picked up a Crucial M4 128GB SSD from the Marketplace for $65....

Case should be here today, then will immedietley start modding it to get it ready for the full water-cooling loop

The question is can your mobo even handle the ram at that speed!

I hate the look of bare ram but hopefully it incorporates well in to your build.

I have had the Sammy memory in the Asrock board up to 21xx before without any issues, and i have it at 2000 in my Maximus Gene right now.

I dont see why EVGA would produce a poor product, they are generally pretty good. BUT, I guess we will see!

And I agree on the bare RAM look, but, these things are sooooo tiny, that they actually look pretty cool.

Pictures!

Case showed up today, as well as my Wonder RAM
20121026_200954.jpg

And a little bad news. Case arrived a little banged up, broken "foot" on the bottom, the clips that hold the bottom to the case broke. But, i think a little super glue can fix it.

I am trying to decide if I want to cut the back of the motherboard tray out for my wiring. I like that I can mount a few SSD's back there, but I want the wiring to be neat as well...So I will have to make a decision.

Using a Seasonic X750.

Thats it for tonight. Got it stripped down, and now time for some debating.

are you going to be doing some full custom sleeving?

if you are, i would cut out the cage. it will make it easier in the long run. if you put your SSDs on the cage the wiring gets a bit messy....

Subbed!

I'm using similar parts so feel free to check my build log or pm me if you have any questions. I just added a second rad to my build and it's showing a significant drop for CPU temps, haven't tested for GPU OCs though.
