I tend to hate these conversations because everyone thinks 8gbs is good for everyone, its not. 64gbs isnt enough for my needs with cad and fea and flow analysis. Sure i can do it on 8 gbs but we are talking a difference in days to get me results. On 16gbs it can still take 2-3 days to render where 64 takes up to a day most times. If i had 128 i could potentially run 2 a day vs 2 a week. I dont know how your video editing program utilizes ram. If this is for your profession or a very extreme hobby i would go 64gbs if it was a good price. If its just for fun then 32 is probibly enough

Yes i have the gigabyte x79 ud 5 mobo,it has 8 dimms thats why i went with the 4x 8gb. Instead of alot cheaper 8 x 4 gb kit,the video editing is not that intence for now,but doing a course on image processing at the end of this year
post #14 of 23
Get 8 of these and call it a day.

Haha, I kid. tongue.gif I'd stick with the 32GB and see if you ever fill up half of it. biggrin.gif

tbh you wouldn't Really need more than 16GB, but if you want 32GB go for it, just don't go for 64GB Ram at this point unless you can come up with a compelling reason on why you would need more.
