I'm moving to x79 so i can run 64gb now and when/if 16gb sticks become cheap enough that'll go to 128gb assuming it'll run. biggrin.gif

No sure if the Mobos / IMCs will understand that.
But 64GB is the way to go for some. With my 32GB I can`t use all cores in After effects (12threads with 3GB each thread means 36GB)
*Disclaimer: I can use all cores but with a lower amount of RAM per thread - which causes some issues when rendering HD stuff*

On the other side the "normal" video editing programms don`t eat up the RAM that much.
Besides: If you really do your daily stuff (e.g. comiling / video editing) AND you ran out of RAM -> place your order.

Everyone said that when 8gb sticks started coming out and most assumed x58 wouldn't see 48gb, but it did.

That's also why I added:

and when/if 16gb sticks become cheap enough
Because when/if they become cheap enough, I'll try it.
