Trying to get facts from YOU, other than a strong opinion just like the rest of us.
Just to be clear..I love the Apple hardware. But I hate the attitude,.
And would never use a restrictive OS
I told you a fact -- the larger the display (and denser the resolution) the more powerful backlight needed. The 4/4S' display only uses 0.42 watts per hour at max brightness, whereas the iPad 2's display uses 2.7 watts per hour and the iPad 3's display uses 7 watts per hour.
I'd estimate that the iPad Mini's display will use about 1.6 watts per hour, but if it was Retina it would be more like 4 watts per hour. And then to power that resolution the A5X would be needed so you'd end up with very little battery life and a lot of heat.

I just wish they were able to fit the A6 in there, I suspect they didn't want to have supply issues if Samsung is there only Fab for the A6 and they're already using it in the iPhone 5 and iPad 4.
I'd say it's more likely they don't want to make the iPad Mini an equal performer with the iPad 4, and they don't want it to outgun the iPod touch 5 either.
