Mouse painting mod need help badly

Thread Starter
ok so im doing this case mod and i want everything to match colors wise ill be doing white with anidized blue. I have the razer naga epic and wanted to use these colors. I'm pretty sure it will need to be a plastic paint of sorts and ill need some kind of sealant / laker to cover the paint after its dryed. I dont really want a gloss look unless thats the only way to seal it the right way. Ill also be doing my mouse pad, keyboard, monitor, and headset. there all in my rig build.

This is the closest thing I can find that doesn't involve painting, because I have no idea of what paint to use. smile.gif
Ofcourse this will also affect the texture of the mouse.

Hmm... definitely a difficult area since whatever paint you will use will need to withstand the friction and use from your hands as well as the heat and moisture for the same reason.

Model paints in general should work to just paint it, but i don't think the quality would last. It may flake off or wear off on your hands. You could use a paint rated for silicone and use a few coats, as this should stick and work well enough to provide a durable coat. This will be a little pricier, but probably cheaper than the proven method thuNDa mentioned of using actual car paint and seal lol. I can imagine that is quite the expense just to paint a mouse. Now... maybe you can visit a local auto body shop and see if you can grease their palms for $20 since you'd only need a little. No sense in buying a whole unit for just that little thing smile.gif

I was recommended by some folks at Bit-Tech to use plastidip, but I'm not sure how that would go over on a mouse. If you were careful to avoid areas around the buttons so you don't clog up the gaps, it should be fine. It will certainly change the texture, and not sure about durability, but it would work.

people always suggested taking apart mice and only plastidip the case and such
post #10 of 16
Thread Starter
yea iv been ready always take it apart for best results. Why only plasti-Dip the case parts? I figured clean with water and soap, dry off, plasti-dip primer, (all paint and primer in a spray can) 2 coats of the dip and a 3rd for the blue highlights. Even with theses steps should i still not plasti-dip the optical stuff? Also should I use a sealant? Plasti-Dip does not have one on there site from what I see.
