500-600 watt psu with no buzz or whine

Thread Starter
What psu models out there have absolutely no buzzing or coil whine? Don't recommend corsair or seasonic. They are notorious for buzzing caps.

Are you sure? I dont know that much about PSUs but Corsair & Seasonic owners are always happy and those are highly regarded PSU producers..

Any PSU can produce coil noise, independent of who makes it or sells it (brand/OEM/ODM are irrelevant in this regard).
W/e you buy you always have the option of returning it if it turns out to be a whiner. wink.gif

They are great but quite a bit of whine on the X series.

I haven't heard any whine from any of the Rosewill Capstone's I've built with.

Could happen though

Any PSU can have this problem, same thing with any GPU can have the problem.

Nzxt, antec, and rosewill. These are the PSUs I used and have not heard any type of coil whine.

There's no way around it, too many Seasonic built units have problems with coil whine, mine included. I'd recommend PSU built by Super Flower, they make some very high quality models, and no significant whine issues. My local retailer even stopped selling Antec Truepower New 650W models (OEM = Seasonic) because of high numbers of RMA's due the coil whine. Now he uses Super Flowers in all computers he sells to customers, with very good results: RMA rate less than 0,5%.

Super Flower is OEM for Kingwin and Rosewill high end power supplies. Super Flower's 80 plus platinum and gold units are highly rated on jonnyguru.com, which I consider to be the best PSU review site.

Here's couple of good units with very good efficiency and quiet fan:

Rosewill Tachyon Series Tachyon-550 Continuous 550W : platinum, modular
Rosewill FORTRESS Series FORTRESS-550 550W: platinum, very good value, non modular
Rosewill CAPSTONE Series CAPSTONE-550-M 550W: gold, very good value, modular

Of course you have to remember that any PSU has change to whine, some platforms just are more prone to it. Corsair AX series is notorious for it.
