I am looking to get a pair of headphones (preferably around the ear) at around $100 (could be a little more if it's worth it). I would use these headphones for gaming and music (alternative, rock, rap) so they would need to have a decent soundstage. It would also be preferable if they would run fine without an amp or soundcard. I was looking at the AD700, but I hear many complaints of lack of bass. If it helps, I have a pair of Nu-Force ne-700x that I love.

I like the ad700's they look silly as hell but they get the job done. The bass is perfect if you are looking for gaming headphones. You don't want to much bass on gaming headphones because it drowns out the mids which are important. I would say go for them thumb.gif

You can add some bass with EQ, I can still feel the oomph when playing Dayz and i heard an explosion, helicopter in the distance, or bus. but yes they lack in bass. GREAT headphones, but not for bass heads. I prefer these over other ones because the sound is much more clear and it doesn't get drowned out by bass.
