5.25" Drive Bay Fan Mod Guide *56K Warning* - Page 3

Nice mod dude! I will do mine a bit differently, as I only have a 92mm Sunon fan at the moment. I will take out two of the drive bays and mount the fan using 3M double sided stick foam, then add some mesh from the hardware store in front of the fan.
The reason that I'm doing it this way is because of the future fan upgrade as well as the fact that I have a door and I want to be able to close it if need be. The door has vents to allow the intake fans at the bottom to intake air though the door.
Rep + for this little diddy!

Yep, as stated, it might be a good idea to add a finger guard if you add this mod to a PC you, or other's use often. The PC I did this mod on, sits untouched for days/weeks on end, folding for o/c.net, so there’s no real problem for me.

I guess you just have to apply common sense to the problem really .

I'm almost finished with mine. I did mine a little differently, so I will post some pics if I can find my little bro's digital camera. I used some diamond shaped metal grille to cover the fan, and I cut a square shape in the drive bay panels. I used engine enamel to paint the panels, so it has the same glossy finish that my case has. I have a white Silverstone FM121 with some silver grille over it, so it's going to look pretty clean. Bling bling
I sure had one hell of a time relocating all of my wires that were located in this area, but they are all on the side now. I will report the difference in temps for the CPU, GPU, motherboard, and PWM (if there are any.) There may not be much of a difference, as I already have 3 intake/2 exhaust case fans. 2 are silverstone FM82s, 2 are Apevia 80mm LED fans, and 1 is a Sunon 92mm

Hey Highly-Annoyed, very nice guide!! I am hoping to get my CM ATC case like that (a bit hard to cut through the metal tho), but I have a 5.25 Enclosure for my HDD+ a DVD drive. I saw your 5.25 "rack" that you had in the picture for your hard drive, it's very nice, simple, and can work with the fans.

Can you link me to where you bought that? or simply describe how you made it? Thanks, I really want to do this mod, but I have a enclosure in the way!

Yeah, this is a great guide , I did something like it six months ago. The front fan brings down my CPU temps 2 C. I didn't have the proper tools though. Good job.
