I just stumbled unto this thread while looking for a Drive Bay fan array I could purchase, but this mod seems more affordable (obviously) and would be worth my time to go DIY mode on it.

Excellent idea! I did something very similar on an older case. Something I'd like to point out to anyone attempting this mod, is that if you are using the stock 5.25" bay covers, they are most likely made of ABS plastic.

Bonding ABS is extremely easy to do with M.E.K. (Methyl Ethyl Keytone) which can be purchased for about the same price as a tube of superglue from your local Home Depot, and you get a WHOLE QUART instead of that teeny-tiny tube of crap glue which never seems to bond anything but human skin together.

If you have a syringe handy (this is ideal) you can just tape the parts together and then run a syringe full of M.E.K. across the seams and the liquid just flows into the cracks and within seconds becomes permanently welded together! Magic!

Something to note about M.E.K. however is that it is EXTREMELY TOXIC. Wear gloves and only use in a well ventilated area. I'd even recommend wearing a respirator if you have one, a dust mask won't do much so don't bother.

I know I'm new here and this is my first post, but I am loving all the great stuff on this site! Lots of helpful people and ideas floating around here.

Great mod, and a great writeup on it! A+ for this thread, and +rep for you

I did this myself before I found your thread, but it's the super-fast, cheap method whereby I use electrical tape to hold an Ultra Kaze in place I may have to redo it now that I've seen how nice and clean it looks when you do it right.

Sorry for reviving this thread from the dead, but does anyone have the pictures around for a reupload or something?

Or can anyone else find a similar guide?
