Looking to attach an antec kuhler 620 to a 7950

Thread Starter
Saw a video on youtube of a 560 with a kuhler 620 attached by a bracket that was from here, supposedly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnOS5jMwoPM

is there such a bracket for 7950's?

Hi there,

I'm one of the artisans on OCN that has engineered and developed a mount that allows the Antec Kuhler 620 to be mounted on AMD Radeon and nVidia cards. I have had multiple members on OCN use my "Sigma_Cool" mount with great success on their Radeon cards.

Send me a PM and I can have a mount shipped to you as soon as possible.

pretty sure you'll need a copper shim to compensate for the bracket around 7xxx series cards, unless the artisans who sell the brackets have them as an accessory.
(otherwise the gpu core won't come in contact with the cooler)

I sell copper shims, however, since most radeon cards don't feature a large metal VRM cooling plate shims aren't really needed. Shims are needed on GTX 680's though.

hi, im lookig to attach an Antec 620 to my Sapphire 7950. I´ve got some questins about this cooling solution,.
cause as i know the 620 would only cool the gpu but what about the vrm´s can i leave them "naked" or do they need some extra cooling?

ive got this version:

How did this project go? I have a gigabyte HD 7970 OC and looking for a tut to replace the noisy stock cooler on this gpu.

i got it attached...... this thread is oooooooooold.

Anyways, I got it on there after some time of postponing.

I will attest to the performance, not a good as the 560ti furmark. I cannot actually fully attest to the furmark results... here is why.

You need to cool the vrms I had a msi 7950, and I did not really want to invest in more things to cool the vrms.

My card would fail because the vrms hit massively high temps. If I were to guess on the max temp on the core (as the vrms failed my card in furmark before max temps were hit on the core), would be about 65c (i would hit 60c core before the vrms hit like 100c+ and failed) but I could guess on the curve and I would say if it were given another 10 minutes it would hit 65c.

So TL;DR, max current furmark core temp on twin frozr 7950 at 1100 core/1250 mem/ 1100 voltage is 80c. With the 620 it would (guess) hit about 65.
