Maybe if he could explain why he needs, or intends to use that extra 10GB..  there would be justification.

Yes exactly, like you said, 32gb is also a choice. But a choice for a higher capacity doesn't mean a lower capacity is to be so handicapped. 32gb total with an OS that takes up 20gb is cheap by any standards.

No one needs to justify their space usage. He could stuff it with porn and that's none of anyone's business. The "choices" should have been 64gb and 128gb, not 32gb and 64gb when the OS would take up half the available space in the 32gb version.

I would have to agree. I wouldnt be happy. My music and media alone is way more than that. Now, I know that there is 25gb of cloud storage but at the same time, if I am no where near wifi it would be nice to be able to have my music and what not readily available. I do not feel 10gb of usable space is a good allotment for a 32gb device. Just my opinion.

32GB (or 64GB for that matter) is nothing. A couple of HD movies will fill that up in no time.

The OS and Microsoft Office fill up ~10 GB. There is 20 GB of space left for everything else. You also have the oppurtunity to use expandable memory, a flash drive, an external hard drive, and just about any other type of USB expandable storage that you could want.

I'm pretty sure you guys are perceiving negativity toward a non-Apple product as pro-Apple bias just because you all hate Apple...

I understand your worries with making comments about the review. However, as stated before, I own several apple products and will say that they make a great product that is built really well. That said, I do not believe that just because apple makes a good product that everything is of lesser quality.

The surface is a completely new take on a tablet computer in my eyes as it blurs the line between something like an ipad and laptop even more making the netbook obsolete. I will also say that in general tablets are being touted as a productive device...and in reality I cant get anything useful done on my ipad. Hence, I only use it for media consumption.

I do not listen to music all the time from an ipod. I dont like messing with it in the car either. However, when I travel and want something for music I will be listening from a tablet cause I will have that there with me anyways as I dont do anything productive on vacation and the ipad is the best thing to watch movies on and still be able to see when a movie is over from lack of squinting....

Now if I was a business man who traveled alot and wanted something small like a table but could still be productive on....I would go with the surface.

While I do not like the moderating overall at The Escapist one thing they do that is very effective in curbing this type of post is to warn and eventually suspend then ban people who make accusations of others being a "fanboy" or similar posts. It stops a lot of the fan wars type stuff that crops up in some of these threads. Maybe we should institute something like that here.

Not to single you out kiwiasian, I just mean anyone who is loosely throwing around the word "fanboy" or "biased". All it ever does it bring down a thread.

RT suppose to be the mobile version of windows 8 and it took a lot more space than regular windows 8 install. While android and ios doesnt require that much space for os.

It is the other way around, OS and MS office took over 20gb, you only have 10 gb for everythingelse. What the point of mobility when u have to bring extra hard drive for your music and movies
