[DailyTech] Windows 8 Early Adoption is Well Behind Pace Set by Windows 7

In September, only 0.33% of all computers using Windows relied on Windows 8. That works out to 33 out of every 10,000 Windows machines using Windows 8. By the end of September 2009, with very similar time remaining before the launch of Windows 7, the operating system accounted for 1.64% of all Windows PCs working out to 164 out of every 10,000 units.

Analysts are beginning to believe that Microsoft won't see the uptick in OS sales that it hoped for with Windows 8. Gartner recently advised clients that it predicts the operating system would top out at only 20 to 25% share in the corporate environment.

I feel like this is a "no duh" statement. The whole idea of windows 8 is flawed from the ground on up. People are just going to do what we did for vista... buy a bunch of copies of windows 7 and try to wait out the storm of stupidity from windows 8.

No really fair since everybody and their mother were dying to get out of Vista.

Windows 7 will be the new XP, everybody will stick to it even though there's a much superior OS around.

There is no way it reaches 20 to 25% in the corporate environment... unless they dump metro on the desktop and just bring back the regular start menu.

As of right now, I think Win 8 is far worse than Vista was.

I don't know if you're implying it's a repost, but it's not. The second paragraph is, but the main news in the article is contained in the first paragraph.

How's that?

Hating on the UI is one thing, but when you look past that, Windows 8 is a much superior OS than Windows 7.

Vista on the other hand was just unusable at release.

Nope. well not really. Just tying themes together, for outsiders. I will admit I checked though. Kinda wish the news was pinned by dates.

Ill be skipping win8 until it gets a service pack and win7 UI theme.
On the PC side I imagine its going to do poorly, But on tablet and mobiles it has a chance.
