HDD coolers

are hdd coolers relay all that nessasary or even very afective or usefull at all i mean you dont oc an hdd or can u ? (hopes answer is yes)

no you cannot oc a hard drive, as far as i know and have been led to believe, the only way you really could do that is to overclock the southbridge which you cant do, and no you dont really need a hard drive cooler but per intels spec there must be a fan moving air past it

I have used one once. I had a problematic WD that ran @ 58-60C. I tried 2 different coolers. The first one was the 2-fan type: it was loud and only dropped the temps 1-2C. Then second was a Vantec heatpipe cooler, silent and dropped the temps 3-4C. It took a Silverstone FM121 blowing over it to drop the temp into the high 40's.

And a s noshibby stated, no OC'ing on the HDD. You would have to get a faster RPM drive (10,000 +), or run R.A.I.D. for a performance boost.
