3930k Overheating

Hey all, im having a bit of a problem with my 3930k getting hot when running games. ATM at around 70% load its sitting around the 70 degree Celsius mark. Components in my computer are

3930k
Corsair H100
Coolmaster carbide 500r
Gigabyte 670
Sound blaster Fatality
wireless card and that about it

case has got 4 fans by itself. No overclocking done to the 3930k as of yet because ive struggled with heating since i built it. I live in Australia so its does get pretty hot here and id like to get this sorted before we start hitting 40 degree days. ambient temp atm is about 22 degrees

cheers for any help guys!!!!

ok,

On your Heatsink you have that light that shows you what function your cooler is in, low, normal or extreme. Something like that anyway, that's set to the highest I assume.

Also, on your radiator, you've got two fans pushing through the rad and the other two fans pulling out right, it's the old push/pull setup.

If all that is ok, it's a dodgy mount and you've probably got bubbles or something in the thermal paste. Take it off and reseat it.

Oh another thing you can check, set your Vcore instead of having it on auto. That can drop a fair amount of temp off for you.

Thats odd with a h100 you should be getting better temps but I don't have experience with the new ivy cpu yet as

I have a i5 2500 right now and it never passes 55c with stock clocks, When you put the H100 on you made sure

to properly apply the thermal paste right? You could try redoing it but I would wait for more opinions on the

matter before doing that. What setting are you running the H100 at I think there are several right. Also Ivy runs
hotter that sandy in general I think but I still don't think that temp is right with a H100 on it. Sorry thats All I can
offer for now till more experience members get back to you.

a Push-pull setup on my rad dosent actually fit in my case as my mobo is slighty to big, as in 2-3mm >.> but im looking at how to modify my case to get that setup. If it will be a drastic drop ill just put my rad on the case with fans sticking just above the case and having fans inside aswell. How much will that drop my temp around?! and i haven't got around to reseating it yet. Ill stop at my local tomorrow and grab some new paste and give that a whirl! the H100 is at its max setting. Whats a decent setting to have my vcore at?? how much can I drop it from stock
post #5 of 17
I'd drop your Vcore to 1.15v and then run it.

As for thermal paste don't cheap out on it, the AS5 and MX3 is pretty decent, the best is the IC diamond but that's quite expensive.

30-34's ambiant temp here on a H100 (lowest speed) no OC on my 3930k and it never get passed 52-55C while gaming, it even stays under 70 while folding. There is something wrong, try reseting it, put your hand on the rad/pump, see if it get hot etc. I have a push only config.

Can you feel hot air coming out if you were to put your hand over where the radiator is venting ?

It could be that your H100 isn't mounted right or there's not enough pressure/contact on the CPU.
