My Corsair H100 Water Cooling. Is it working?

Hello everybody. I have finally dived into the world of liquid cooling. Simply because I demand a cooler system when overclocking my processor, and gaming.

However, I've taken a look at my CPU temperatures in HWMonitor, and I'm not sure if the cooling is doing it's job.. I could be wrong though. I was hoping to get some insight on other H100 owners with hardware similar to mine.

Here is all of my hardware:

- COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced Case
- GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
- NVIDIA EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti Superclocked 2GB DDR5 VRAM
- CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W Power Supply
- AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor OVERCLOCKED to 4.0GHz
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 RAM
- CORSAIR H100 Liquid Cooling
- LITE-ON Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner
- Intel 520 Model 120GB SSD
- 2TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
- Windows 8 Professional X64

The H100 is typically set to the middle notch unless gaming. At idle doing standard usage (Windows Media Player, Chrome browsing), HWMonitor reports that my CPU, that's overclocked to 4.0GHz is running at a temperature of 33 C on average. I don't know, but I think that that's what it was before when I had a fan and heatsink.

I'll reboot now, return the CPU to stock clock and check the temps again. I'll update this post with that information in just a minute. If you need anymore information, I'd be happy to provide it.

UPDATE: With the CPU at stock speed of 3.2GHz, my CPU temperature now reads 32 C. It's only one degree cooler, so I doubt that it's an issue of me clocking it too high. One reason being that with this H100, I've never had an issue with clocking it up that high with gaming, or anything else. Also because the temperatures stay around the same in HWMonitor.

Thank you all for your help. I greatly appreciate your advice.

load temp will give you (and us) a better idea if your cooler is working. run prime at 4GHz. make sure the cpu temp do not go over 60C (imo).

Thanks. I'll run Prime95, and let you know what I see.

At idle, prob won't see difference in temps, check after running prime or folding overnight.

Okay, I am posting this on my iPhone while my rig is currently running Prime95 overclocked to 4.0GHz.

It's been running since 3:22am, and its currently 4:10am.
I have HWMonitor reading me these temperatures while Prime95 runs.
- The current temp of the CPU is 44 C.
- The Minimum temp is 42 C.
- The Maximum temp is 47 C.

So far that's what it's given me. Does this appear normal for my configuration? Does my liquid cooling appear to be doing its job well up to this point so far?

Thanks again.

Great! I am new to liquid cooling, so I just wasn't sure what "good" temperatures were with liquid cooling systems and my particular CPU. Now I only hope that temps are still good when adding a 2nd GTX 660 Ti in there.. rolleyes.gif

Thanks for your advice.

A little late in replying it seems, but you temps look fine, plenty of overhead for a higher clock if you can manage to push such out too.

The H100 can be quite capable if it's in the right circumstances, I'm using a H100 custom fitted under the Antec 1200 Bigboy fan and I seem to idle mid-high 30s and push low 50s on full load. @ 4.4GHz. ^_^

Would be interesting to see what more you could squeeze out, or possibly save the temp overhead for a warmer day... You can gain your best clocks on a cold day, but may have to downclock on a hot day due to ambients >w>;

You're right about downclocking depending on hot days and other variables. In fact, Crysis 2 doesn't seem to like any overclocking at all...most of the time. All other games will play fine (and better) overclocking from 3.2 to 4.0GHz. Only Crysis 2 doesn't like it, for it will stop responding. Figures. rolleyes.gif
