GTX 570 1280MB in SLI vs GTX680 4gb SLI vs GTX660ti 3gb 3-way-sli

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I have seen a couple of threads about going from GTX 570 in SLI to single GTX680. In my opinion, this is not a wise move, unless you play above a the resolution of 2550x1440. In my case I play at a resolution of 5966x1080 (nvidia surround gaming), which is why the following question comes up in me:

Does it make sense to upgrade from GTX 570 1280mb SLI(currently onwing this setup) to SLI to GTX680 4GB or GTX660ti 3 GB in 3-way SLI?

To upgrade to GTX680 4gb SLI it wil cost me around: €1100,-
To upgrade to GTX660TI 3gb it wil cost me around: €980,-

I'm not sure what will be the better upgrade or do i realy need to upgrade or just wait a year or so? Hopefully you guys can help me out of this.

remember I do play at a resolution of 5944x1080 and playing WoW, BF3, Call of Duty Black Ops 2(when it's released), GW2 and more.

I'd go to GTX 680 4GB SLI. 4GB version is more than enough to play @5760 x 1080 (yeah I know you play at higher resolution than that).

For 3 monitors I would go with 2 HD 7970 in CF. They scale well and have an extra gig of VRAM.

But 2 GTX 670 in SLI would do too. They're close behind 680s and cost quite a bit less.

If GTX 680 4GB SLI is available to you I don't even know why you listed GTX 570.
2x 7970's or 680 4GB cards seem the only appropriate options for you when you are running a resolution that high.

If you can't budget those cards... Then consider 670's or 6950's.
I don't think GTX 570 is an option. GTX 580 3GB cards would be the only 5 series option.

Yeah I was think about that myself. But how would the GTX660TI in 3way sli stand up to the GTX680 in SLI. I never tried 3-way sli and something inside me tells me try 3-way sli! haha Thanks for your oppion.

Ya Vram is the biggest limiter for your resolution. 3 way SLI is ok but for about the same amount of money you can SLI 680's or about the same price X 7970's.

I don't really think GTX 660's would be all that great as well because of the smaller Bus, which is fine for single monitor setups but I would think would limit super resolution setups when you really want to max out graphics.

I believe, 660 Ti is not good enough to play @ multiple monitors because it only have 192 bit bus, correct me if I'm wrong,,,,so I still recommend the 4 GB SLI GTX 680, it will become a monster to your monitor lol haha
