The Cupie has an A10 and 1GB of DDR3

I want a mini PC with an x86 Atom so I can run Windows.

I don't know a lot about these devices, I did try to educate myself but couldn't seem to find the right information when I Google it. But can I watch say Netflix and Hulu on these as well?

Ok scratch my question I found my information.

ok im not really familiar with these, but seeing from the site pics seems like i can wire up my cheap lcd tv into a smart tv. which is cool. cuz i cannot afford a smart tv. but really do not have a use for one that often. but lets say imma on my laptop and find this cool youtube video but dont want 15 different people trying to look at my little 15 in screen. could i use this device to turn my 32 inch lcd into like a 2nd computer monitor(this would be preferable since I do need a nice big computer monitor once in a while.) or be like able to just click a button on my laptop and have this device load up this youtube/hulu/whatever video i am looking at? I know there are professional solutions, but like i said earlier, imma broke.

or, you want an htpc, but, you don't want to drop $300 to build one. you realize that a wdtv live drops connection often, roku's are pretty much worthless in the streaming department, and all other simple boxes are limited as far as media profile compatibility. you plug this into your tv, install xbmc, connect to network and stream your media and use your android phone or iphone as the remote control.
or, say you're in college, and you're my kid, so you're poor. you need some sort of computer to use privately in your dorm, for, well, educational videos. you can't afford a computer or laptop, however, you just sold some plasma, and after buying some beer, you bought that trucker cap you always wanted, and ordered a pizza to feed yourself for the week, you have $40 left over. boom, computer.
there's a lot of uses for it. its compact, portable, simple to setup and carries all the functions of any tablet.
Wow Great explanation.. thanks... I will certainly pick one up now. And what is xbmc. And will this thing play videos from the internet onto my 40 in tv with no problems? thanks again +rep for the laughter

Thread Starter
Yes, you can play YouTube, vimeo, etc videos onto your TV. You can also use xbnc on this, and xbmc remote on your phone to play videos to your TV from your phone. You can also HTTP control xbmc on this from any device or computer on your network

Intel has ITX boards with integrated Atom's for as low as ~50 euro, you would need to add just a storage, RAM and PSU. Also, for something as low as ~60 euros you can do a lot better than Intel Atom with Sempron 145 + mobo with UCC function (for unloking it to dual core) and onboard GFX (say a 760G chipset mobo) although it would be a bit larger and be mATX size. These Semprons do easily ~3.5 GHz, is a 64 bit CPU and if I remember correct had also a bit more cache. VIA has also some kind of nanoITX board with x86 on it although its overpriced in my opinion at somewhere above 100$ last I looked.

Cant get as cheap as these ARM systems tho and this offer seems damn sweet even among these cheap ARM systems. You can get the cheapest Android tablets for ~70$ btw with HDMI although if I remeber correct they tend to have even weaker processors than this one. For 40$ its a damn sweet offer, especially considering that they throw in also an miniHDMI to HDMI cable and USB hub with that offer. I am seriously tempted even if I know I dont need one atm - but at that price ...

This is about as close as I have come to a small Intel ATOM Windows capable machine. Just add 4GB of DDR3 ($17) and a SATA HDD + OS and your good to go. Oh lets not forget that it has USB 3.0 tongue.gif

I just could not resist. It was 30.79 with shipping in euros. I dont have HDMI displays (unless you count the three older DELL's in my sig rig, but I use these for eyefinity) but I have couple of spare screens with an DVI and I think also have some HDMI to DVI dongles somewhere which I got with some of my GFX cards. At that price it turned out to be just a bit too high temptation for me.

Does anyone know if this system can work with an USB 3G dongle, say one of the Huawei 3G modems ? As I'm starting to get some ideas what I might want to try to do with it. I'm total noob as far as Android goes though - never have used it but we'll see.

+rep for op. I picked up the mk808 bigger brother of this one for $62.99, I think I can get it working with a Lilliput touchscreen for a sweet cheap CarPC, and if all else fails I can test it next to my Logitech Revue and see what works better as a smart TV Box.

Thanks. I just bought one to turn my "dumb tv " into a " smart tv" for my wifey to watch her chinese soap lol
